July 24, 2007 - Van Huizen Out For Season….. Eagles forward Jimmy Van Huizen is out for the season after tearing the patella ligament in his left knee while playing for the Philadelphia Fight on Saturday. Jimmy injured his knee while putting in a big defensive hit on a driving Slayers’ forward and will undergo surgery later this week. The Fairfax Eagles wish Jimmy a successful and speedy recovery and look forward to getting him back on the field in 2008.
July 21, 2007 - Eleven Eagles Join Fight to Battle Slayers….. For the second time this season the Fairfax Eagles joined forces with the Philadelphia Fight in an attempt to secure playing time for a number of the current playing squad. Eagles’ players making their AMNRL debuts on Saturday included Giancarlo Furgiuele, Tony Dimoulas, Jason Mayhugh, Min Sae Chae, Michael Flood, and John Hemmis. The Eagles would like to congratulate the debutants on a job well done! The new guys were joined on the day by Dain Bentley, Jimmy Van Huizen, and Steven Grant, who played with the Fight last week at the War at the Shore, by former New Haven Warriors’ winger Sebastian Edmunds, and by former Eagles’ President Craig Webb who came out of retirement for the afternoon. The Fairfax Eagles would like to thank the Philadelphia Fight for providing the opportunity to get the Eagles on the field. The Slayers ran out clear winners on the day, winning 58-0.

July 14, 2007 - Eagle Earns International Honors….. On-loan Eagles half-back Steve Scanlan earned his first cap on Saturday for the England Lionhearts in an ‘A’ team international against Scotland at Gateshead International Stadium in Newcastle, England. Steve started the game at hooker before taking over at half-back when the starting number 7 went down with an injury. Steve was selected for the Lionhearts after some strong performances this season for the Kent Ravens, where he has earned two man-of-the-match awards in his last four games. The highlight of the game was Steve’s 50-meter breakaway run that led to a Lionhearts’ try. The Scots were victorious on the day, running out 36-32 winners. Steve will finish-up the season in England with the Ravens before he returns to Fairfax to play with the Eagles later in the year.

July 14, 2007 - Eagles go to War with Fight….. The first game of the 2007 War at the Shore in Sea Isle City (NJ) saw the Philadelphia Fight take on the Bucks County Sharks. Although a fairly one-sided affair in favor of the Sharks, Fairfax Eagles players Eric Wolfe and Dain Bentley made their AMNRL debuts playing for the Fight. Both guys played well and enjoyed their first taste of rugby league. Eric and Dain were joined by fellow Eagles John Young and Jimmy ‘yimmy’ Van Huizen, who have already seen playing time with the DC Slayers this season, and by Fairfax Eagles President Steven Grant who saw his first action of the 2007 campaign. The Fairfax Eagles would like to thank the entire Philadelphia Fight organization for their hospitality on the day, with special thanks to Coach Peter Illfield and President Jeff Preston for helping to get the Eagles on the field.

July 1, 2007 - Operational and Coaching Changes….. President and Head Coach Craig Webb is no longer with the Fairfax Eagles. Craig has decided to retire from rugby league (playing and coaching) to free-up more time to devote to his personal life. The Fairfax Eagles would like to thank Craig for his endeavors in helping to establish, organize, and run the club, and wish him the best for the future. Vice-President Steven Grant will assume operational control of the club and take over as President. Steven will also assume coaching responsibilities on an interim basis.
